About Kelly
Kelly Frederick received her BFA in painting and drawing from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, 3x3 Illustration Directory No. 11, and Uppercase Magazine. She has self-published several children’s books, collaborated on textile designs for Milwaukee’s arts hotel Saint Kate, and is the inventor of The Pocket Angels. Her work explores imagination and storytelling as a way of connecting with intuition.
Alongside her studio practice, Kelly spent three decades as an educator in the Wauwatosa School District, where she helped build a nationally recognized arts program and collaborated on curriculum development and innovative teaching practices. Her work in education centers on helping students make connections between ideas, disciplines, and their own creative voices. In 2026, she was named Wisconsin Visual Arts Achievement Awards Educator of the Year.
Kelly also teaches online workshops on creative thinking for students and educators. These sessions focus on the power of prompts: simple invitations that encourage learners to solve problems imaginatively, explore metaphor and simile, experiment with storytelling, and develop a sense of voice.
Whether creating artwork, writing and illustrating books, designing learning materials, or leading a workshop, Kelly’s goal is the same: to spark curiosity and invite people to see the world through imagination, intuition, and story.

When given the space to share what we are paying attention to, it becomes easier to set intentions. Learning to play, learning to use our imaginations for good is key to manifestation. In this private workshop you will meet with Kelly via Zoom to share what has been coming up for you lately. Together you will create intentions for your very own pocket angel. Being playful puts us into a receptive state to receive messages and inspiration. It heightens our ability to pay attention to what we pay attention to and invites us to freely wonder, “What if? What else? What’s next?”
After the call, Kelly will imbed the intentions into the clay body of the pocket angel, which will be mailed to you 7-10 days after our collaboration. These pocket angels are perfect companions for retreats and integration.

Sketchbook for the Oracle Within is a 6-week guided creative circle where participants use simple visual journaling practices to reconnect with their inner dialogue and develop creativity as a tool for reflection and manifestation. This experience is designed less as a traditional class and more as a structured, supportive creative retreat spread across six weeks. It is a creative listening circle for intuition, personal symbolism, and conscious manifestation. If you have ever felt that your creativity was trying to tell you something, this is a place to learn how to listen. There are times in life when we feel called to slow down and pay attention differently. During these moments, art can become more than expression. It can become a way of listening, clarifying, and gently shaping what wants to emerge next.
After 30 years of teaching visual art, Kelly Frederick’s work now focuses on helping adults reconnect with their own creative voice through reflective sketchbook practices that support clarity, transition, and personal growth. Alongside her background as an artist and educator, Kelly also brings years of experience in intuitive readings and symbolic interpretation, offering participants a grounded yet deeply intuitive approach to creative self-discovery.
Over six weeks you will:
• Develop a sketchbook as a place of dialogue rather than performance
• Learn practices for recognizing inner guidance and quieting inner criticism
• Explore personal symbols, animals, and visual metaphors
• Work creatively with life transitions and emerging possibilities
• Practice turning insight into intention through simple creative rituals
• Strengthen trust in your own creative and personal decision making
Each weekly gathering includes:
• A short grounding or listening practice
• Guided sketchbook explorations
• Thoughtfully developed reflective prompts
• Optional sharing in a respectful and confidential circle
• Simple practices to continue between sessions
Structure:
6 weekly Zoom sessions, approximately 2 hours per session
Community Options: Participants are welcome to register individually or with a small group of friends. Some people prefer the courage of coming alone. Others appreciate sharing the experience with trusted companions. Both are welcome.
